Flute days are a wonderful opportunity to meet and learn from international artists normally only available to students at central colleges and conservatoires. 4Flutes aims to provide a fun and informal day to learn and develop new techniques, explore new repertoire, be inspired and meet other flute players.
So whether you are a music student looking to build your flute playing experiences or a student young or old who has just learnt their first few scales this is the perfect opportunity to get involved.
Flute Day 2017 with Jessica Quiñones
No other flautist ever has, or ever will, have the
unique blend of talents, creativity, strengths and musical perspectives that you already possess.
Let’s help it to flourish together.
We are delighted to welcome Jessica to this years event. Jessica is a truly inspirational artist and teacher with a unique perspective on being a flute player. Discover ways of making your tone sing and your heart soar in this fantastic one day event with workshops and ensemble playing.
Jessica is originally from the deserts of New Mexico in the sunny American Southwest and after originally pursuing the traditional classical flute career she deviated from the more formal path to share and explore her outstanding creativity more personally with her audiences.
Having delivered over 75+ professional recitals across the globe Jessica’s fallen in love with creating music that allows her to express spontaneity, playfulness, sensuality, improvisation and rhythmic groove in performance.
Specialising in the tango flute music of Astor Piazzolla, Jessica earned a Ph.D. at the University of Huddersfield, UK in musicology and flute performance. She also holds further flute degrees from the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music (USA), and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Glasgow.
Now living in Cornwall Jessica designs training courses for flute teachers, deliver academic papers, writes for numerous music publications, give university workshops and regularly deliver masterclasses as well as running an active flute studio teaching clients from all over the globe.
“I believe that everyone has the potential to be musical and to create song. Flute playing is a celebration of your freedom, authenticity and personal expression– unique from anyone else’s on this earth.”
