Flute Day 2016 with Lisa Nelson

We are delighted to be welcoming internationally recognised flute soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, educator and mentor in performance practices Lisa Nelson for our 2016 event.

Lisa grew up on a pig farm in Western Canada, and fed on all kinds of music, from opera to rock to jazz. She makes many venues her stage, and thrives on sharing the energy that performances can generate.

Lisa is a Professor at the Junior Department of the Guildhall School of Music in London, teaching flute and coaching wind chamber groups and the orchestral winds. Lisa has been teaching as the Specialist Flute Tutor at Wells Cathedral School for more than 15 years, and has sat on the British Flute Society Council for 10 years having recently stepped down. Lisa is an artist for Yamaha Classical Division International playing a 14k 900series flute.

Flute fun and inspiration.

Flute days are a wonderful opportunity to meet and learn from international artists normally only available to students at central colleges and conservatoires. 4Flutes aims to provide a fun and informal day to learn and develop new techniques, explore new repertoire, be inspired and meet other flute players.

So whether you are a music student looking to build your flute playing experiences or a student young or old who has just learnt their first few scales this is the perfect opportunity to get involved.
